Thanks for stopping by

Hi, My name is Lucas and I’m excited to be applying for the project coordinator position with Turner Fleischer.

I started my career in the architecture and construction industry as the owner of janela, a window and door distributor in the residential market in Toronto, and have since then ventured into project consulting and business development for Reynaers Aluminum, a system supplier of high performance, sustainable aluminum facade solutions.

Over my career, I have developed a keen sense for business process improvement through managing my own residential projects for 3 years, and through consulting on solutions for high rise facades, LEED projects, and net zero/passivhaus retrofit projects.

Project coordination has grown to be my specific passion, as I believe the success of any project is contingent on an agreement of values and goals between stakeholders, project constituents and the trades that ultimately execute projects.

I’d be extremely excited to have the chance to work with Turner Fleishcer in this capacity, specifically in the capacity to improve workflows and processes. From a pure business perspective, I understand:

Only when....
Structure, i.e. roles, responsibilities and tools are established, and cross department information has a clear storage destination

There is accountability for activities and results through real benchmarking and measurements, which should be based not only on revenue but also on addressing internal efficiencies.

janela

janela was my business that I incorporated and ran myself. I sold 21 projects in 2.5 years, learned building science, sales, customer management and even a little carpentry. My favourite part of building this business was building the processes and workflows surrounding project management, administrative upkeep, and sales analysis. Below are some shots of my work:

Reynaers

After selling reynaers products for 2.5 years, I joined the system supplier in Canada as a project consultant. During this time, I coordinated LEED compliant proposals, consulted on net zero and passivhaus projects, and coordinated the development of custom engineered solutions for complex facade designs. Some companies I have developed relationships with over my career are:

CUMULUS Architects

Moriyama & Teshima Architects

Adamson and Associates

MJMA

Hariri Pontarini Architects

GH3

I point this out simply to state - I have an intimate understanding of the architecture firm’s needs, wants, and procedures, in successfully executing on projects. My inside knowledge will help me acclimate to my new role as a project coordinator.

Reynaers… again

My role as a project consultant with Reynaers shifted into business development, which focused on two key areas: Development of our market presence, by way of setting up fabrication partners, and internal development: Heading an initiative to internally streamline resources across departments by defining workflows, roles, and standard operating procedures. By using process mapping and DMAIC principles, I am aiming to bring cohesiveness to our customer service and customer onboarding experience, as a result, we are successfully onboarding two new customers and switching a main competitor over to Reynaers with multi year investment plans into purchasing our systems and machinery. below is the process map I designed to use as a framework for organizational development:
