How to make sure you never see us again (Unless its for more windows)
(Hint: Keep your new windows and doors clean and protected during construction)
It’s post installation. We’ve fixed and foamed every window and door, and conducted our post site visit to vet hardware functioning. The major work has been done, and any fine tuning tasks required have been resolved.
We’re largely out of the the picture.
What do you do now?
If it’s a retrofit, it’s time for the finishing trades to come in and plaster in drywall returns or refit trims and casings.
If its a new build, the electrical guys may roll in, the facade contractors may be putting the final touches on the building face.
In any case, there will be construction workers lugging and hauling construction materials and equipment around site. Dirty boots, sharp objects and heavy beams are scattered and about.
Its easy to patch up some damaged drywall or fit in a new wood post thats been damaged during the construction process. But, your windows and doors have low tolerance for damage. With precise levelling of sliding door leafs, and gaskets requiring squared off frames for proper sealing, abrasive physical contact has the potential to knock things out of place.
We’ve seen gaskets come unstripped by workers coming in and out of entrances with our MasterLine swing doors.
Please don’t let this happen. In severe cases, some disassembling, cleaning, and reassembling ay be required.

We’ve seen Lift and slide drainage holes filled with dirt and rubble.
Improper use of lift and slide hardware may leave unrecoverable scratches in the door track.
What I am getting at here is: If you can, don’t let your investment in luxury aluminum products be used as a construction passage point.
Some tips for protecting your windows and doors:
Leave protective tape on the profiles: Most of our window and door systems arrive on site with protective tape. This tape can last up to 6 months, so its encouraged that you leave this tape on to protect the majority of the surface area of your aluminum from scratches.
Alternatively, use a drop sheet: You can also tape a drop sheet to the perimeter frame and drape it over the entire glass surface
If you have a door that needs to be used as a passage point, tape the sill - leave the door open and tape the sill with protective tape. If its a lift and slide, educate the other trades that the handle must always be at either fully pointed downwards (for movement) or upwards (lock engaged) - if the handle has not been flipped 180 to operate, you’re asking for damage to the hardware and profiles.
Consider cleaning products - Reynaers has developed cleaning and care products proprietary to reynaers systems for restoring colour, degreasing, and touch ups. The care guide also provides details on intermittent cleaning and touch ups that should be completed every now and then (6 months - 1 year)
